What is archaeology?

Archaeology: Definition

(1) the scientific study of material remains (as fossil relics, artifacts, and monuments) of past human life and activities

(2) remains of the culture of a people : antiquities

(3) the sound of a fist meeting your face if you ask if archaeologists dig up dinosaur bones.

How to use in a sentence:

I am an archaeologist, I study past human cultures by what they leave behind.  No, I don’t study dinosaur bones.  No, really, I couldn’t identify that dinosaur bone you’re holding.  *Sigh* You know Indiana Jones?  My job is just like that.  I fight Nazis.  Daily.
